It's over! We had a great day together: lots of interesting presentations, encounters and informative conversations. We thank all our speakers, attendees, organizers and sponsors who made this Dutch Perl Workshop 2009 possible!

IntroductionFollowing the successful workshops in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 we plan to apply the same proven formula once again in 2009. This formula means:
SpeakersWe just filled up the slots for regular full-length talks, but there is still room for a few more lightning talks. If you are enthusiastic about a Perl-related topic and would like to tell others about it, then please submit your proposal asap. If you've never given a presentation before, this is your chance. If desired, we can help you with tips. |

Who?
Everybody interested in Perl is welcome. The level of the presentations varies from beginner to expert level. However, the Dutch Perl Workshop is not an introduction day to Perl, you need to have at least some knowledge of Perl to be able to benefit from the workshop. The atmosphere is welcoming and casual, and there'll be lots of opportunity to ask experts for help. This sixth Dutch Perl Workshop is a great opportunity to extend your knowledge of Perl and to meet fellow Perl programmers. The breaks are just like "Meet the Monk" events, for example around the book table, during the long lunch, the dinner, or after the workshop while enjoying a beer or other spirits. Especially for those who've never got around to attending a meeting of the Amsterdam, Groningen, Brussels or Flanders Perl Mongers, this is a great opportunity to hear about the latest tricks, having that little missing piece of information explained better or to listen to a talk by their favourite Dutch Perl celebrity from close range. By Dutch Perl Mongers, for Dutch Perl Mongers. A day of informal and varied events, with lots of opportunity to make contact with fellow Perl users.Schedule
We're still in the process of putting together the program, but, as every year, there will be presentations on a wide range of topics, from object-oriented programming in Perl to working with databases. Most presentations will be given in Dutch, but there may also be some foreign speakers whose talks will be in English.Where?
As a venue we have again chosen the StayOkay Alteveer (formerly known as the youth hostel) in the northern part of Arnhem.Staying overnight is possible (at your own expense, even in the case of speakers). We have reserved seven double rooms. Family members are welcome.
Workshop fee
The fee for participation is very low indeed:
€ | 38 | for all speakers |
€ | 100 | for non-speakers coming from commercial companies |
€ | 75 | for non-spekakers coming as private attendees |
(all prices incl. 19% VAT)
This fee includes lunch, dinner, tea, coffee, vlaai (!) and cookies. The number of attendees is limited to 60 (if it's sold out, we will go by the order of payment).
We thank our sponsors: it's thanks to them that the fee can stay low.
Rooms
As before, we have two rooms available, with overhead projectors and projection screens, and of course the central room with, among other things, the largest Perl library in Europe (more than 225 unique Perl titles, plus dozens of older editions). The central room can also be used for BOFs and tutorials for smaller groups (3 to 5 people).
Internet
The internet connection at the StayOkay is better than last year, but still of limited capacity (downstream 512 kb/s, upstream 128kb/s), but we will certainly have wifi in all rooms.Regarding the internet connection, we ask everybody attending the workshop in the StayOkay hostel not to use the connection for heavy up- or downloads and we also ask Windows users to turn off automatic Windows updates. -->
