Roles are a method of code organization specifically meant to augment the re-usability of object oriented code while not simultaneously polluting your inheritance hierarchy with code that, in the end, does not help to describe your problem domain.

TL;DR – Roles are horizontal re-use.

This talk will describe some of the common patterns and best practices developed over the last ~10 years that roles have been available in Perl 5.
